If there is a country in the world that can match France for its huge range of indigenous grape varieties and quality wines then it is Italy.
Italy is a treasure trove of clean, dry whites with delicious hints of citrus fruits and almonds. Italian reds often have a higher acidity to cut through the country’s cuisine and there is such a huge range of grapes and wine styles it is hard to know where to start.
This selection of regional favourites has been chosen by me in conjunction with Steven Taylor, our local buyer and champion of family growers who is based in Italy. It is a great introduction to the delights of Italian wines.
