From the rolling hills of the Luberon in the west to the rocky hinterground of the Cote d'Azur near Nice, Provence is a wine region which is often passed by in the UK. This is rose country (85% of production)with delcious, light elegant examples all over the region. Reds are in shorter supply but at their best they can be very rewarding, although often expensive, expressions of the Mediterranean triumverate of grapes (Grenache, Syrah, Carignan). |
