Wine Discoveries is one of the UK's fastest growing home delivery wine merchants. Here is an introduction to the company, our philosophy and how we started.

2003 - Wine Discoveries is born
Fed up with disappointing wines on the high street and finding the top chateaux wines over priced, Jonny headed off to France in his car and started bring home wine for friends and family. Word spread about his ability to sniff out new finds and Wine Discoveries was born in the spare room at home in East Sussex with wine stored in an old barn.


Going national
We ran some great tastings with early customers and their friends and the number of winemakers grew from 12 to over 40. Jancis Robinson MW, Joanna Simon and Jonathan Ray gave our wines some very positive reviews. The website was launched in 2004 and people started to buy our wines from as far afield as the Isle of Skye and Cornwall.





Great wines from small producers
After several years of tasting and travelling, Jonny is convinced that hand crafted wines made slowly by growers like Pierre (right) have more complex and rewarding flavours than wines made on an industrial scale. Think baker's bread, real ale and home grown veg versus processed, big brand alternatives. These are the wines you stumble across on holiday but can't find back home!

We only work with independent winemakers who grow their own grapes and make their own wine in an environmentally friendly way. We pay them a fair price and buy from the cellar door so you don't have to pay for any middlemen.


2006 - Onwards and upwards
By the end of 2005, we had outgrown the spare room and barn, and moved into shop nearby. Pop in and visit us if you're in the area - we usually have a bottle or two open for you to try.
